8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan

So as many as you know there was a huge earthquake on the East side of Japan. This 8.9 magnitude earthquake was the largest earthquake in Japan on record. The earthquake created a tsunami that made it all the way to the California/Oregon coast. The earthquake hit at 2:46PM Friday(Yesterday or our Thursday March 10th late in the night.), March 11th in Japan. The earthquake cause a massive tsunami that went all the way across the Pacific Ocean. The tsunami reached speeds of over 500mph.  Hawaii was hit very early Friday morning with just high waters and no sever damage. The tsunami made its way to the California/Oregon coast a few hours later. I was in Spanish 2 class when I saw the announcement on the internet. The earthquake was so severe to shift the whole island of Japan 8 feet to the East. The max waves in Hawaii was 7 feet and 6 feet in California. That is nothing compared to the dozens of the 33 foot waves that hit the seaside villages in Japan. There are many must see videos on CNN of the tsunamis in Japan. There has been around 200 confirms deaths in Japan and only one in the U.S. Japan still is having severe tidal waves washing threw many cities and countryside destroying everything in its path.
